Activities of Primary Health Centres

  • Primary Health Centres have been established at the rate of one per 30,000 population in lain areas and one per 20,000 population in hilly and difficult terrains.

  • Each Primary Health Centre has two doctors and other supportive para medical staff.

  • Treatment in Primary Health Centres, is given from 8.00 AM to 11.00 AM and from 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM. 
  • Each Primary Health Centre is provided with 6 beds for in-patient treatment.
  • Antenatal clinic is conducted on Tuesdays.

  • Immunization of infants is done on Wednesdays.

  • Free-blood examination is done to Antenatal mothers.
  • Ferrous sulphate tablets (FST) are distributed to Antenatal mothers.
  • I.U.D. Insertion services are available.
  • Blood smears are taken for fever cases to detect Malaria Positive cases.
  • Dog bites and snake bite cases are treated.
  • Deliveries are conducted at the Primary Health Centres. 
  • In-patients facilities are available for other patients also.
  • Free sterilizations are done for both male and female.
  • 24 Hours Primary Health Centres have been established in 250 Primary Health Centres, to enable people to have access to the Medical services, throughout day and night.
  • 24 upgraded PHCs with 30 beds, X-ray and Operation theater facilities.
