GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL NADU Part II scheme 2001-2002 - Supply of Disposable delivery kits to pregnant women in rural areas - Orders issued. Health and Family Welfare (P2) Department G.O. Dated : 03.10.2001 ORDER: As per rough estimate, domiciliary deliveries conducted by trained and untrained birth attendants and others account for about 2,50,000 deliveries per annum.? The elderly women and the Dais who conduct deliveries at home do not have the facilities to adopt aseptic techniques.? This results in umbilical infection and complications which ultimately threatens the life of both the new born and the mothers especially contracting neonatal tetanus and tetanus mother. In order to overcome these difficulties and to avoid deaths due to tetanus infection after deliveries and also to reduce maternal and neonatal mortalities, the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has requested the Government to sanction Rs.10.00 lakhs for the purchase of disposable delivery kits each at a cost of Rs.10 to be distributed among the pregnant women for ensuring hygienic and aseptic deliveries under Part II Scheme, 2001-2002. 2. The Government accordingly sanction not exceeding of Rs.10.00 lakhs (Rupees ten lakhs only) as non-recurring expenditure towards the purchase of disposable delivery kits to be distributed among the pregnant women in rural areas for ensuring hygienic and aseptic deliveries by the trained Birth Attendants or others at the time of delivery at homes. The kit containing the following items will be purchased through Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation. 1. Soap cake (sample size). 3. The expenditure sanctioned in para 2 above shall be debited to " 2210 -? Medical and Public Health - 03 - Rural Health Services. Allopathy - 101 -? Health Sub Centres II - State Plan - Schemes included in the IX Five Year Plan - JD. Panchayat Union sub centres taken over by Government - 47 Stores and Equipments (DPC. 2210 03 101 JD 4702). 4. The amount sanctioned in para 2 shall be credited to the P.D account of Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation by contra credit under the following head of account: " K. Deposit and advances (b) Deposit not bearing interest - 8443 - 00 - Civil Deposits - 800. Other Deposits - AE. Deposits of Government Companies, Corporations, etc. 66 - Deposits of Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation Limited (D.P.Code 8443 - 00 - 800 - AE - 6600 (Deposits). 5.
