SERVICES PROVIDED IN HEALTH SUB-CENTRES:

MATERNAL HEALTH:

??????? Antenatal Registration in 12 weeks

??????? Two doses of Tetanus Toxoid immunization at an interval of one month between doses.

??????? To combat Anaemia 100 FST(L) tablets are given at the rate of one per day.

??????? Antenatal checkup.
?
??????? Pregnant women are educated about high risk pregnancy.

??????? Pregnancy complications are detected and family members educated.
?
??????? Family is educated about the need for supplementary food for pregnant women

??????? Action is taken to provide Rs.500/- as maternity benefit for pregnant women of poor house holds.

CHILD HEALTH:

- Growth monitoring of infants

- Advise for Medical Termination of Pregnancy given.

- Reproductive tract infections in women are treated and educated for prevention.

- Women are escorted to Tubectomy operations.

ADOLESCENT GIRLS:

- FST (L) tablets distributed once in a week to adolescent girls.

- Health Education to Adolescent girls in schools provided.

HEALTH EDUCATION:

- Health Education provided with the help of self-help group and community leaders.

EPIDEMICS AND CONTROL O COMMUNICABLE DISEASES:

- Visiting the villages once in a fortnight, and collection of blood smears from the fever cases, Treatment of Malaria cases and contact blood smears taken Anti mosquito measures taken.

- ORS packets are distributed to treat diarrhea cases. Affected Houses are disinfected and Environmental sanitation is provided.

- Birth and Death Registration are monitored.
?
- Public Health measures undertaken during Fairs and Festivals and during Floods.

- Distribution of Nirodhs and provision of Health education for family planning.
?
- School Health Education is provided.
?
- If there is acute problem of Cold, Cough, Sputum are collected and if found positive for Tuberculosis treatment given.

PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS LEVEL:

??????????? A Primary Health Centre functions for every 30,000 population.

- Treatment at Primary Health Centres is given from 8.00 AM 11.00 AM and 3.00 Pm to 5.00 PM.
- 2 Medical Officers are available at each Primary Health Centres.
- For Emergency Treatment Ambulances services are available on payment
- Each Primary Health Centres is provided with 6 beds for in-patients treatment.
- Antenatal Clinic is conducted ton every Tuesday
- Immunization of infants is done every Wednesday.
- Free blood examination is done to Antenatal mothers.
- Ferrous Sulphate Tablets (FST) are distributed to Ante-Natal mothers.
- I.U.D. Insertion services are available.
- To know the Malaria positive cases, Blood smears are taken for fever cases.
- Sputum examinations is done to identify T.B. cases.
- Blood smears are taken to identify the Filarial cases.
- Rabies and Snake bite cases are treated both Day and Night
- Every Thursday a medical team visits the allotted schools and carry out medical checkup of students and provide treatment and referral services.
- Deliveries are conducted at the Primary Health Centre.? In-patients facility is available for other patients also.
- All medicines and Check-up are given free to the patients with the monthly income less than Rs.1000/-

DISTRICT LEVEL (DEPUTY DIRECTORS OF HEALTH SERVICES):

- To get birth and Death extracts approach village Administrative Officers for Rural arrears and Commissioners, Executive Officers for Urban areas.
- Inform Guinea Worm cases, if any, to Health Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres / Municipality and receive Rs.600/- for informing the same.
- MTP is done without cost.
- Leprosy is detected and treated.
- Eye examination is done and suggestions are given if necessary for eye operation
- For informing Polio cases to Health Sub-centres, Primary Health Centres, Municipality Rs.500/- is given to the First informant.
- If the incidences and deaths of? Diarrhoea, Measles, Japanese Encephalitis, etc are found in the area, inform nearby Primary Health Centre / Municipality.
- Food Samples taken for adulterated cases can be examined at Food Laboratories on payment.? Food Laboratories are available at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem and Thanjavur.
- Water samples are analyzed at Guindy and Coimbatore Water Analysis Laboratories on payment.
- Sale of Tobacco products are banned in Tamil Nadu to prevent the diseases like Cancer, Heart ailment, etc.
- Packed Water without ISI Specification is not permitted for sale.
- Health nuisance may be reported to Deputy Director of Health Services.
- All incidences of diseases and death particulars of the district are available in the office of the Deputy Directors of Health Services.
- Any complaint in the activities of Health Sub-Centre / Primary Health Centre may be informed to theDeputy Directors of Health Services.
- Birth and Death certificates may be obtained from the Birth and Death Registrars (VAO/EO/SI) free of cost immediately after registration as per section 12 of the RBD Act 1969.? Further copies may be obtained from the CAOs/authorities of local bodies on payment of prescribed fee as per section 17 of the RBD Act.
