PROSPECTUS

1.???????? ELIGIBILITY:

???????? Candidate should be a citizen of India.

2.???????? NATIVITY:

???????? Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu. Except the candidates who have studied in school in the State of Tamil Nadu from 8th Standard to Plus Two, others should produce the Nativity Certificate in the format prescribed in Annexure I from the competent authority. The candidates who are the children of parent of Tamil Nadu origin living in other States should also produce the Nativity certificate as mentioned above. Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted.

Note :???????? Foreign Nationals, even though they have studied for 4 years in IX, X standard in a High school and H.SC., (Academic), in a Higher Secondary School or in a college in Tamil Nadu are not eligible to apply for admission to B.S.M.S./B.A.M.S./B.U.M.S./B.N.Y.S./B.H.M.S. courses for 2004-2005.

3.????? AGE LIMIT:

???????? Should have completed the age of Seventeen years on or before 31st December 2004. Evidence should be produced.

4.???????? EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:?

???????? (i)???????? Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board in the FIRST APPEARANCE with following group of subjects with minimum eligible marks:

??????????? (a)??????????? Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

(or)

??????????? (b)??????????? Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subjects.

??????????? (c)? ????? FOR BSMS COURSE : In addition to the minimum eligibility marks mentioned in para 6, the candidate should have also studied in Tamil? medium upto X Standard or ????? Higher Secondary course

OR

????? ????? ????? Should have passed Tamil as a subject in X Std. or in Higher Secondary course.

Note:?????????? Candidates who have passed any other equivalent examinations with same group of subjects mentioned above should produce the eligibility certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University before admission to the course.

?????? (ii)? The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply to BSMS, BAMS, BUMS BNYS, BHMS Courses :

??????????? a.????? Candidates who have passed H.Sc. in Vocational Stream.?

??????????? b.????? Those candidates who are presently undergoing any of the professional courses such as MBBS, BDS, B.Pharmacy, BSc (Nursing), BPT, BOT, BSMS, BAMS, BUMS,?? BNYS, BHMS, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Veterinary etc., at the time of applying for BSMS, BAMS, BUMS, BNYS, BHMS Courses.

??????????? c.????? Those candidates who have already undergone Six months and more in any of the professional courses such as MBBS, BDS, B Pharmacy, BSc (Nursing), BPT, BOT, BSMS,? BAMS,? BUMS, BNYS,? BHMS, Engineering, Law, Agriculture, Veterinary etc.,

5.????? APPEARANCE IN TAMIL NADU PROFESSIONAL COURSES ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (TNPCEE) 2004:

????? (i)???????? Candidates should have appeared for the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE 2004) conducted by the Anna University covering the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany and Zoology for the year 2004.

????? (ii)???????? Candidates should fulfill all the requirements prescribed by the Government for admissions to BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS? courses and just appearance in TNPCEE 2004 does not confer any rights for admissions into BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS Courses.

6.? MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY MARKS FOR BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BHMS COURSES :

????? ????? (i)????? OPEN COMPETITION

????????????????? (a)? A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

????????????????? (b)? A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

????????????????? (c)????? Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks.

????? (ii)????? BACKWARD CLASS

??????????? (a)? A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

??????????? (b)? A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

??????????? (c)????? Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks.

????? (iii) MOST BACKWARD CLASSES AND DENOTIFIED COMMUNITIES

??????????? (a)? A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

??????????? (b)? A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

??????????? (c)????? Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks.

????? (iv)????? SCHEDULED CASTE, SCHEDULED TRIBE

??????????? (a)? A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

??????????? (b)? A minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry.

(c)??? Aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks.

6. (B)? ELIGIBILITY: MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR BUMS

??????????? ??? Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate ( Academic) Examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary State Board or its equivalent with the following group of subjects shall be eligible for 1st year BUMS Course.

( i)???? Physics (ii) Chemistry (iii) Biology or Botany and Zoology.

??????????????????????? ??????????? OR

??????????? ? ????? Candidates who have passed any other equivalent examination with the same group of subjects? as mentioned above shall also be eligible for consideration for admission to the BUMS Course.? It shall be the responsibility of the candidate concerned to obtain the necessary eligibility Certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University and submit before admission to the course.

Candidates should have studied in URDU Medium upto X Std

OR

Should have passed Urdu/ Arabic / Persian as a subject either in X Std or in Higher Secondary Course.

OR

Should have passed the Addeeb-e-Fazil Examination or Entrance Examination of Affzal-Ul-Ulama Examination of the University of Madras are eligible to apply for the BUMS course. Candidates who have studied HSC Course with Vocational stream and Pre-University Course are not eligible to apply for this Course.???

?????? Note :-????? (i)????? In the case of candidates who have furnished the mark-sheets of the qualifying examination, only in GRADES, the minimum marks of the grades alone will be taken into consideration while determining the marks in the Science subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology.

??????????? (ii) OC / BC / MBC/ DC Candidates Should Pass the qualifying examination in One appearance and one attempt for improvement is permitted.

??????????? (iii) SC / ST Candidates Should Pass the qualifying examination in One appearance and two attempts for improvement is permitted.

??????????? (iv) If the candidate takes up the subjects which are not prescribed for Medical? Courses such as Mathematics and English that will be considered as one attempt. Highest marks alone will be considered in all appearances.

??????????? (v)? If a candidate has absented himself / herself either for appearing in the qualifying examination or for improvement examination that will not be counted as attempt / appearance.

??????????? (vi) If the candidate takes up the subjects which are not prescribed for Medical Courses such as Mathematics and English that also will be considered as one attempt.

??????????? (vii) Latest improvement marks obtained in the select Science subjects will alone be considered for the selection and allotment of candidates. However, it will be decided based on the out come of the Judgment pending in the Honble High Court Madras.

7. The list of SPECIAL CATEGORIES WITH THE CODE NUMBERS is furnished in the APPENDIX I.

If sufficient number of candidates are not available for allotment against any of the? 24??? seats in BSMS, 9 seats in BHMS and 9 seats in BUMS reserved???? for the SPECIAL CATEGORIES listed under Appendix-I the vacant seats will be added to the General Pool of seats and? filled up with candidates from merit list applying rule of reservation.

???? The list of Government and Self-Financing Medical Colleges is furnished with the details of Courses offered and seats? available?? in the APPENDIX II.

(2)? CATEGORY II - SELF FINANCING COLLEGES

(a) 60% of the total seats in Self-Financing Non-Minority ISM Medical Colleges.

(b) 40% of the total seats in Self -Financing Minority ISM Medical Colleges.

NOTE:? Selection Committee will allot seats to categories I and II based on the merit and

?????? Application can be had from the Principals of the Government Siddha Medical College,? Palayamkottai and Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai and Government Homoeopathy Medical College, Thirumangalam, Madurai District and Govt. Unani Medical College, Chennai-106 by producing a Demand Draft for Rs.450/-(Rupees Four hundred and fifty only)? in favour of the Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Chennai-106 from any Nationalised Bank , payable at Chennai.

????????? As per G.O.Ms.No.111 A.D.& T.W. Department, dated 22.09.98 SC/ST candidates are exempted? from payment of cost towards the purchase of applications.

(6)?? METHOD OF SELECTION AND ADMISSION:

(a)?? Selection will be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the prescribed science subjects at the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks and the marks obtained for the maximum of 100 marks in the Entrance Examination - TNPCEE 2004 conducted by the Anna University.

(7)? ?? DETERMINATION OF RANK OF CANDIDATES OBTAINING EQUAL MARKS:

In cases where two or more candidates obtaining equal aggregate marks for 300, the rank of such candidates shall be determined on the basis of the following order:

???????? (ii)????? Percentage in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together.

(10)?? All selections and admission for BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BNYS/BHMS Courses are only provisional. The Selection and admission is liable to be cancelled at any time as and when the eligibility conditions are found to be defective or incorrect or of any suppression of facts. The rights of allotment to BSMS/BAMS/BUMS/BNYS/BHMS? courses reserves with the Selection Committee.

9. COUNSELLING (Single Window System):

?? (i)????? Option once exercised during counseling, will be final and cannot be reverted back, on any other grounds or reasons.

?? (ii)??????????? Candidates who fail to attend the counselling will forfeit their right to claim for admission and their names will not be considered for admission to any other course.

?? (iii)??? One of the Parents accompanying with the candidates will be allowed to attend the counselling and they should make their own arrangements for attending the counselling session. Individual intimation will be sent for regular counselling through call letters.

?? (iv)??? All Communications will be sent only to the mailing address given in the application. Candidates are requested to intimate any change of address immediately. The Intimation / Call letters will be sent either by Certificate of Posting, Registered Post, Speed Post, Courier Service or by Telegram whichever is applicable. Selection Committee is not responsible for any postal delay or wrong information conveyed by the Postal Department.

?? (v)??????????? Candidates can exercise their option for the course and the college of their own choice at the time of counselling, subject to availability of seats. Request for transfer of college or change of course will not be entertained after counselling is over.

?? (vi)??? Those who get retotalled / revalued marks can also attend the counselling on the day and session according to their new marks. If the candidate produce the retotalled / revaluation marks after the counselling is over and with in the cut off date i.e. on or before 30-09-2004 then his/her name, will be considered only in the existing vacancies available and he/she cannot claim any preferential rights for allotment according to merit under retotalling / revalued marks.

?? (vii)?? The vacancies arising after the first phase of counselling will be filled up from the waiting list through counselling, if necessary, and also to the new colleges, if any added.

?? (viii)??????????? Selection Committee reserves the rights of movement of candidate from category to category, college to college based on merit following the rule of reservation. If a candidate giving option to stay in the previously allotted College / Course and Category, they are allowed to opt out of the movement procedure by giving a declaration and they will not be considered for change of Category / College / Course in the event of any vacancies arise on movement.

?? (ix)??? Mutual transfers will not be entertained under any circumstances.

10. Choice of Candidates:

??????????? The candidate is eligible to opt for all the courses viz.? BSMS/BAMS/BNYS/BUMS/BHMS course in Government and Self-financing colleges based on his/her eligibility.?? Likewise, he/she can opt to be waitlisted for all the categories.

11.? TUITION FEES:

(a)???? Detailed information regarding Tuition Fees, Special Fees, Scholarship Fee Concession, Hostel Facilities, University Registration Fees, Curriculum, Examination Fees, etc. can be obtained from the Head of the Institution in which the candidate joins.

??????? In the Academic year 2002-2003 for BSMS Course 30 payment seats have been created at Govt. Siddha Medical College, Chennai-106 @ Rs.50,000/- per annum per seat tuition fees and other? fees are etc. subject to condition of the approval of Govt. of India, Central Council of? Indian Medicine, New Delhi and affiliation of the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University. ?

???????? If any amount - remains due from the students as a result of revision of fees if any, it shall be payable by the student.? An undertaking to pay any amount that may become due as and when the fee structure is revised should be given to the Head of Institution at the time of Admission.

Note: Meritorious students selected through Single Window and allotted to Self Financing???? Institution be given some concession say 15% of the recommended fee.
