Nature Of Activities

1. Electrical Section

• Maintaining all electrical H.T. & L.T. installation and feeding the power supply to all sections uniformly

• Monitoring the voltage, load (ampere), electrical panels, earth pits, Underground cables, overhead wires etc.,

• Attending the electrical faults on all equipments, machineries, water pumps, boilers etc., located at King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research Campus and Ekkattuthangal pumping station

2. Refrigeration Section

• Maintaining cold storage plants (+4°C), Attending faults on split Air conditioning units (nearly 150), window Air conditioners (nearly 75), Ductable split Air contioners, deep freezer (10), Refrigerators (nearly 50), Refrigerated centrifuges (nearly 10) etc.,

3. Mechanical Section

• Water supply to the entire building in the campus from the pumping station situated at Ekkaduthangal (Adyar River bed) and Metro water pumping station near Veterinary Section

• Steam supply from boiler to central filling section for preparation of distilled water, R.O. Water Plant etc.,

• Repairing of all mechanical faults in all machines in all sections

Future Proposals

• It is proposed to start short term training programme for Electrical and mechanical Engineering students from other colleges (Polytechnic, ITI and diploma courses)
