INTERNATIONAL VACCINATION CENTRE
The International vaccination centre in King Institute of Preventive Medicine & Research is one of the authorised centres for issuing yellow fever vaccination certificate The centre is Functioning since 1969 and has been recognized by World Health Organisation. (WHO)
Yellow fever is a dreadful disease caused by virus, transmitted by Aedes mosquito prevalent in certain African & south American countries. According to WHO, guideline vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory for travellers to the following countries.
AFRICA:
Angola, Benin, Bulkina, Cameroon, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Coted Ivoise, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Bissau, Kenya, Libya, Hali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and principle , Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire and Zambia.
AMERICA:
Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, FRENCH Guinea, Guyana, Panama, Peru, SURINAME , TRIEIDAU AND TOWGO, Venezuela.

ACTIVITIES OF INTERNATIONAL VACCINATION CENTRE
I. YELLOW FEVER VACCINE:
Vaccination against yellow fever for International Travellers is being done on Fridays from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm and the certificate issued immediately. (If Friday is a holiday its done on the previous working day)

Mandatory requirement : Passport
Immunity begins from 10 days after Vaccination and lasts for 10 years.
The vaccine is a freezedried virus containing chick embryo tissues infected with attenuated yellow fever virus strain 17D. The vaccine meets WHO requirements .It is obtained from CRI Kasauli, which procures it from Federal state unitary Enterprise on manufacture of Bacterial and viral preparations (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences)

Travellers have been injected and issued the certificate of Vaccination on the same day.
II.MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINE:
Every year around 2000 Hajj pilgrims are being vaccinated with Meningococcal vaccine procured by Hajj committee. This is done by Organising a camp with Hajj committee of Tamil Nadu with the instructions of the Director of King Institute Of Preventive Medicine & Research. The Medical Team consists of Deputy Director, Medical officers, Technicians, office assistants, and Hospital workers of King Institute of Preventive medicine & Research. The Quadrivalent Meningococcal Vaccine (ACYW135) of NICD New Delhi procured by Hajj committee is stored in the cold storage room of King Institute of Preventive Medicine & Research and distributed to various District centres of Tamilnadu.
