Admission to MBBS / BDS course for 2006-2007 session.

Applications are invited for admission to MBBS/ BDS Degree Course for 2006-2007 session in Government Medical /Dental Institutions in the State of Tamil Nadu.
1.?? ISSUE OF APPLICATION FORMS WITH PROSPECTUS:
??????????? The application form with Prospectus will be issued from? all the Government Medical Colleges and Tamil Nadu Government Dental College, Chennai on all days from?? 05-06-2006 to 19-06-2006, upto 3.00? P.M.
?? ?The application form with Prospectus will be available in the following Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges:

2.????? The candidates / authorised persons should give a written requisition to the Deans/ Principal of the above Government Medical Institutions requesting for application form with Prospectus, enclosing a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of “THE SECRETARY, SELECTION COMMITTEE, KILPAUK, CHENNAI-10?, towards the cost of application form with Prospectus. The Demand Draft should have been issued by any one of the NATIONALISED BANKS ONLY and dated NOT EARLIER THAN? 03-06-2006 and should be payable at CHENNAI.

??????? Common Application Form for MBBS/BDS????????????????????? . .???? Rs.500/-
S.C/S.T candidates are exempted from payment of cost of application and Prospectus and they can obtain the application on written requisition duly enclosing two sets of attested Xerox copy of the Community Certificate.
??????????? Applications can also be obtained by post by addressing the Dean / Principal of Government Medical / Dental College, duly enclosing the postal stamp to the value of Rs.60/- (Rupees Sixty only) for ordinary post.
SC / ST candidates? who wish to get the Application by ordinary post should enclose the postal stamp to the value of Rs.60/- (Rupees Sixty only).
Applications can also be downloaded from the Website: http://www. tnhealth.org and can be submitted along with the required Demand Draft.
4.? Application forms and prospectus will not be issued from the Directorate of Medical Education and Office of the Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai.
5.????? Applications for Special Categories
a)????? Physically Handicapped
b)????? Children of Freedom Fighters
c)????? Children of Ex-Servicemen
d)????? Eminent Sports persons
??????????? Candidates applying under Special Category should fill up the Common Application Form prescribed for General Category and they should also apply in the application form prescribed for Special Categories on payment of Rs.100/- in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai -10, for each special category subject to a maximum of three special categories. Only one form should be used for one special category. Candidates applying under Sports Category should submit the applications with necessary documents in person at the Office of the Selection Committee, Chennai - 10. Without required documents, their claim will not be considered under any circumstances.

6.??? CATEGORIES OF SEATS :-
(i)???? MBBS/ BDS Seats in Govt. Medical Colleges? and? 60% of the seats available in IRT Perundurai Medical College.
????? (ii)???? Seats offered by the Self –Financing Medical/ Dental Institutions voluntarily.
????? The candidate should be a Citizen of India and Native of Tamil Nadu.
8.????? AGE LIMIT : The Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December 2006.
9.?? QUALIFICATION :
A.?????????? Candidates should have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board in one and the same attempt in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks.
???????? i)??? Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology????
(or)
???????? ii)?? Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject
B. The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply for Medical, Dental Courses:
i)??????????????????? Candidates who have passed H.Sc in the Vocational Stream.
ii)?????????????????? Those candidates who are presently undergoing any of the professional courses such as MBBS, BDS, B. Pharmacy, B.Sc.(nursing), BPT,BOT, BSMS, BHMS, Engineering, Law Agriculture, Veterinary etc., and those candidates who have discontinued on any grounds, the professional courses mentioned, leading to? waste of a seat.
C.??????? Candidates who have passed any other Qualifying Examination other than the HSC (Academic) Examination conducted by the State Board should submit the eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai before admission.

10. a. Selection will be made on merit, on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the select science subjects in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks and the marks obtained in the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination – 2006 for the maximum of 100? in the physical and Biological Sciences conducted by the Anna University. (Total – 300 marks)
??? b. The improvement marks of any year in +2 examination are not valid and the marks obtained in the first appearance in the qualifying examination will alone be taken into consideration for the selection and allotment of candidates to M.B.B.S./B.D.S. Course.
?? c. The allotment of candidates will be made following the Rule of reservation in existence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the horizontal rule of reservation will be followed for the allotment to the Special Categories.
