I have great pleasure in launching a new, comprehensive website of the Tamil Nadu Health Department to cater to the people of Tamil Nadu. I am sure that this website will make available necessary information relating to health services under one umbrella.

I am happy to mention that my Government has been focusing on Information Technology for bringing in better co-ordination within and between Government Departments in order to serve the people better and make the services of Governement Departments more efficient.

I am committed to eliminating poverty, improving the living standards of the people of Tamil Nadu and taking health services to their homes by properly harnessing modern technology.

During my previous tenure as Chief Minister between 1991 and 1996, I had initiated for the first time in the country the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation to rationalise the distribution of drugs and medical supplies to all Government Hospitals in Tamil Nadu. I am happy to learn that this is now being emulated all over India and in several other countries.

On this significant occasion, I wish to reiterate the commitment of my Government to providing quality health services to the people of Tamil Nadu and establishing the State as a role model for others to emulate in all spheres of activity.
