I.Burns Management - K.M.C. Hospital, Chennai - 600 010

  • 12 years old boy had sustained flame burns of the back of chest and gluteal region when he sat over burning house hold goods during BOGI FIRE.  He has superficial partial thickness burns. (Photgraph 1)

  • Membrane applied over the areas of burn after clearing the area.  (Photograph 2 with application of Membrane)
  • 8th day after membrane application.  Wound is dry with membrane. No infection. (Photograph 3)
  • Result after separation of  Membrane after 14 days of Burn Injury.

Management of Burns using MEMBRANE  is a specialised technique followed at the Department of  Burns, Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. This technique reals burns without any pain, infection or repeated dressing change.  The results of the management are good.  Wound healing is hazened and there is good pigmentation in the wound

II.Cleft Lip Surgery- K.M.C. Hospital, Chennai - 600 010

  • 8 year old boy born to consanguineously married parents has left sided complete cleft Lip.

  • Cleft lip operated using Millard's Rotation technique and has been made presentable.

Cleft Lip and palate is   a congenital abnormality  and must be  corrected before one year of age.  Children will have a social stigma to go to school and would affect their studies.  All Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, the plastic surgeous have done more than 1500 Cleft lip and palate surgeries.
