ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

• Manufacture of Anti Snake Venom Serum against the common four poisonous snakes of India, Indian Cobra, Common Krait, Russells Viper and Saw Scaled viper which is supplied to government hospitals and Private firms.

• ASVS is supplied as 10 ml liquid vials

• ASVS is the only specific life saving drug in snake bite victims

• At present the department of antitoxin is being upgraded according to GMP norms with Air Handling units and clean room facilities

ACADEMICS

Theory classes to diploma nursing students from all govt. and private colleges during their institutional visit.

Training for M.D. (Micro) post graduate students in ASVS manufacture on quality control tests needed for a vaccine

PROJECTS

Projects for undergraduate and post graduate students regarding ASVS.

FUTURE PROPOSALS.

1. Production of Monoclonal Anti snake venom antibodies.

2. Rapid detection of snake bite cases by ELISA

3. Training course in manufacture of vaccine and sera

4. Establishment of venom Research centre.
