Established as per G.O. 1048/ME/ dt. 23.7.93, the School of Laboratory Technology, King Institute of Preventive Medicine & Research, Guindy, Chennai-32 imparts training for Diploma in Medical Laboratory for students who have completed their Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology, with annual intake of 50 students. Period of study - 2 years. Mode of Admission through Single Window System by Board of Para Medical Education, KIPM&R Guindy, Chennai-32.

Two Batches of DMLT students are undergoing training.

ACADEMIC:

Two Batches of students are undergoing training in Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT).
Pathology, Microbiology and Biochemistry Theory & Practical classes are conducted for I Year & II Year DMLT students in the following schedule

Microbiology, Pathology & Biochemistry Theory classes are taken by all Teaching Faculties in concerned subjects.
Conducting Seminars frequently in each subject.
Hands on training given for all students.
Library Facilities with latest edition of books are available for students.
Conducting Test for Internal Assessment once in 15 days in each subject.
Practical schedule are conducted under supervision of concerned medical officers in SLT Department and overall supervised by Director.
Extracurricular Activities:

Section Postings: All students are sent to Diagnostic dept, Media section, ASVS, Biological Control & Virology Department.
Students are exposed to get trained in Blood bank, Histopathology, Clinical Pathology., Serology, Rheumatology, Biochemistry, Pathology & Microbiology Department in Medical Colleges.
Model Theory and Practical Examination is conducted for every batch before the Final Exam.
Conducting DMLT Theory and Practical Examination after completion of the course.
